Code of Ethics

Last updated in May 2026.

At Messy Healing, I adhere to the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics and aim to practise with professionalism, integrity, compassion, respect and accountability in all areas of my work.

The following principles offer further insight into how I aim to work with clients and approach my practice.

Ethical Practice & Values

Humanity

I believe people deserve to be treated with dignity, compassion and respect. I aim to create authentic, non-judgemental relationships built on honesty, transparency and care.

Professionalism

I am committed to working responsibly, ethically and within my scope of competence. I value clear communication, honesty, ongoing learning and accountability in my practice. If I believe support is needed outside of my skillset, I will signpost or refer appropriately and professionally.

Collaboration

I view wellbeing support as a collaborative process. Clients are encouraged to make their own choices, move at their own pace and remain active participants in their growth and healing. Everyone is the expert in their own experience, and I will never act as though I am expert in someone else’s life.

Equity & Inclusivity

I aim to create an inclusive space that respects different identities, lived experiences and perspectives. I am committed to treating people fairly and continuing to learn about diversity, equality and systemic barriers that can impact wellbeing. I encourage reasonable adjustments and will do my best to adapt to personal circumstances.

Client Autonomy

Clients are always free to ask questions, decline exercises, pause sessions or end support at any time. My role is to support, not control or direct. I also honour this by providing an informative client/coach agreement, so everyone knows what to expect and clients can make informed decisions about whether to proceed.

Confidentiality & Safety

Sessions are kept confidential except where safeguarding concerns, risk of serious harm or legal obligations require disclosure.
